Daniel Azevedo was champion in the 100-meter backstroke and second in the 200-meter medley, while Isabela Garcia won silver in the 400-meter medley and Estefany Camilli won bronze in the 800-meter freestyle.
Another bronze was won by Paraiba with the women’s team of 4 by 200 free relay consisting of Maria Eloise, Maria Luisa, Isabela Garcia and Estefany Camilli. “There are no such words of joy on this first day of the Arakaju competition, swimming with five medals at once. This is a good sign as the event is just starting and never before in history has our state won at the start of these games. so many medals,” emphasized the head of the delegation, professor Jose Hugo.
The Secretary of Youth, Sports and Recreation (Seille) Zezinho Botafogo noted the excellent performance of the delegation. “It is an occasion to celebrate and congratulate the athletes for leaving Paraíba with five medals on the first day, which is considered an excellent number.
