The Municipality of Lucas do Río Verde, through the Secretary of Education and Sports and Recreation, held last Saturday (03) the 1st Municipal Swimming Festival.
About 1,400 students, including children and teenagers, participated in the competition, and all of them were rewarded with outfits and medals for encouraging and participating.
The festival took place in the swimming pools of the Caminho para o Futuro Municipal School, which welcomed students and guests swimming elsewhere. It also featured athletes representing the city and appearing in the sporting arena.
Mayor Miguel Vaz honored the festival, as well as Secretary of Education Elaine Lovatel, coordinator of the “We Can Swim” project Eltron Moreira, counselors, teachers who develop the activity and representatives of Sicoob Credisul, supporters of the event. Parents, family and friends were also present, so the crowd and encouragement was great for the participants.
“It is great to see that our children participate in such festivals. We have already reaped good results from athletes representing Lucas do Rio Verde throughout Brazil. The support and encouragement is right in line with what we envisioned for our sports program. Not just for the importance of sports, but for the quality of life that sports provide, in addition to better preparing citizens, especially new kids. Sport is life, health and movement,” the mayor emphasized.
