Competitors from 20 countries are already in Maceo to participate in the opening of the University Triathlon World Cup

The official opening of the Triathlon University World Cup will take place this Thursday (8) at the Pajuchara Beach arena, which will be the stage for another international ceremony. More than 120 athletes from 20 countries, organizers and authorities are participating in the event scheduled for 19:00.

The contests will be held on September 9 and 10 in the women’s and men’s categories, as well as in the mixed relay, a sprint distance of 750 meters swimming, 20 kilometers cycling and 5 kilometers running.

The women’s kick-off will be at 7am (9am) this Friday. The man starts at 9 am. The award ceremony is scheduled at 11 o’clock. On Saturday, it will be the turn of the mixed relay, with the scheduled start at 9 o’clock, and the medal presentation at 11 o’clock.

Swimming will be at Pajuchara Beach. The bike ride will start in Pajucara and continue to Praia do Ponta da Barra, where the athletes will return, completing the 5km. The race will start in the city of Pajuchara and continue to Ponta Verde beach, from where the athletes return and finish the 20 km journey.

Under International University Sports Federation (FISU) regulations, student-athletes between the ages of 18 and 25 who are regularly enrolled in higher education institutions participate.

Athletes from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Islamic Republic of Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Nepal, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland and USA. have already landed in Maceió. The Triathlon World Cup is taking place at the same time as the World Beach Volleyball Championship, which started on Tuesday. The competitions are organized by the Confederation of Brazilian University Sports (CBDU) and the International Federation of University Sports (FISU) with the support of the Municipality of Maceió.
